Gualala Arts is excited to announce that we are holding a two-day event that will celebrate Gualala Arts' first 50 years and help shape its destiny for the next 50.

To help with this process, Gualala Arts is planning this two-day celebration and visionary opportunity, Tuesday and Wednesday, October 19 and 20, 2010.

Gail Taylor, an international organization consultant who lives in Gualala, will facilitate the event. Gail assists groups with the processes and tools needed for thinking, working and bringing common goals to life in ways that elicit and enact the imagination and creative abilities of the community and its members. To begin the celebration of Gualala Art's upcoming 50th anniversary next year, participants will reveal the design process and tools that brought so many people together to develop this unique arts center. What will the next 50 years for Gualala Arts look like for our community? What are the big dreams that will set us forth on a new phase of maturity and well being?

Our two days together will be highly interactive and engaging ... a combination of fun, learning, and hard work. These two days will reveal a new way of working together. While 50 years is our horizon, the next 5 years is our focus.

Sixty five visonaries, strategists, and modelers have accepted this challenge to generate the momentum for conceiving and achieving the transition to a sustainable, fulfiling and just global future, and launch an ongoing collective effort. 

Matt and I have designed what we call a PatchWorks game based on work from Stewart Kauffman's book about self-organizing systems, At Home in The Universe, and our own exploration of how to further this idea as a way to solve many of today's most pressing problems. This event will further test the validity of this concept. 

Circle of Blue, in short, is a resilient, evolving template, purposefully constructed as the 21st century news and communications center that is capable of both understanding and leading the global responses to immense challenges, tracking them and elevating the solutions.  Circle of Blue does this by producing dramatic, compelling evidence of the results and the solutions. Circle of Blue is the only communications organization that integrates front-line journalism, design, science, ideation and connected leadership.

Our challenge is to develop a website or portal that makes the Encyclopedia of Life content and related educational activities and resources accessible to a variety of audiences.

We love the long-term vision of EOL. Definitely a worthy project!

Todd joined with more than a dozen of his professional colleagues in The Value Web to support the World Economic Forum's WorkSpace collaborative sessions at the 3rd Annual Meeting of New Champions. The WorkSpace hosted 11 sessions this year, ranging from "Groundbreaking Ideas for Social Change" to "How Good is your Judgement."

With The Value Web, Tomorrow Makers led a 2-day workshop that brought together designers, thought leaders and change makers to explore, design and collaborate in bringing forth the new paradigm. This invitational event included participants from throughout The Value Web's business ecosystem. An assortment of content has been shared via Facebook, Twitter, and various blogs, including here on the Tomorrow Makers site.

The International Design Alliance (IDA) is a strategic alliance between three international bodies for design, respectively representing communication design (Icograda), industrial design (Icsid) and the interior designers/architects (IFI). The three organizations represent different facets of a shared profession, and thus bring very different cultures into the the long term vision and strategy.
 
The opportunity at the meeting in September was to find a common vision for the future of the IDA and agreement on structure and operational model.

A joint effort between Matt (MG Taylor) and Gail (Tomorrow Makers) created a one and one half day experience to help the IDA induce a phase transition, getting them beyond cultural differences to discover the essential part each body brings to the table and how to combine these in a synergistic way.

Matt facilitated the Montreal meeting with the assistance of Ryan Romsey, independent videographer and MGT network member. By all accounts, it was successful.  Gail was able to remain at home, having taken a central role in the design, and recover from her surgery. 

The opportunity to work with this design alliance came through The Value Web, who recommended the Taylors. Ongoing work with INDEX: and The World Economic Forum brought The Value Web to IDA's attention.

"The Innovation 100 meeting, part of the World Economic Forum's Geography of Innovation program, convened a global set of business and academic stakeholders to share perspectives and develop greater understanding around three focus areas: innovation clusters, innovation talent, and collaborative innovation."

Through his affiliation with The Value Web, Todd was brought into this project as Design Lead and Venture Manager.  With the Forum and its partners, Todd developed the program and breakout sessions, partnered with Jeff Shults to bring in a world-class design environment, and assembled the knowledge worker team that supported the event.
